Drought: We are still rafting even with the Deschutes Basin currently in a drought.  Rafting operations are dependent on water released from Wickiup Reservoir for irrigation. It is forecast that Wickiup will be dry by mid to late August.  If you are planning a trip later in the summer please continue to make your reservation and we will contact you if rafting operations are going to be impacted due to the drought.  As the river level drops trips might extend beyond the 1 hour on the water which will cause subsequent trips to run a little late.  In the event that we are running late, please be patient with our staff during this challenging time.

Trip Details: Arrive at Seventh Mountain Resort 20 min prior to your trip time.  You will check in at the gift shop (just follow the signs to “Rafting Check In”.  As you wait for the bus please help your self to the games in the outfitter park or relax on our patio.  The bus driver will announce the departure of the trip.  After a 10 minute drive you will arrive at the river.

Once at the river, the lead guide will assign you a guide and you’ll be fitted for a PFD (Personal Floatation Device). We try and keep groups together whenever possible.  The guide will strive for groups of 7 paddlers and possibly a couple non paddlers. (low water may dictate lighter rafts reducing the number of paddling positions.  Our lead guide will split groups at the river if needed for safety.)

As the rafts drift away from the boat ramp, your guide will go over paddling commands, how to stay in a raft and other pertinent safety information. They will point out wildlife, tell stories and position the boat for the most strategic water fighting assault.

There are 2 practice rapids prior to the main event. You will splash and giggle through a class 1 and a class 2 while the guide makes last minute adjustments. Now it is time for the class 3’s!  The rapids of Big Eddy are named “Kenmore”, “The Knotch”, “Souse Hole”, “Three Stooges” and “Ol’ Stogie”.

In the heat of the action while getting splashed from all sides, we hope you smile huge for the photographer who is lurking on the bank trying to capture the evidence of who is paddling and who is holding on.

After you have conquered the rapids your guide will play games, let you swim, and of course let the adventurous “ride the bull”!

Trip Times: We operate rain or shine 7 days a week from May to October. Trips depart at 10:00am, 11:30am, 1:00pm, 2:30pm and 4:00pm. Please arrive 20 min early to sign in.

Who Can Go: We recommend passengers aged 6 and up. Our only restriction is a properly fitting PFD. We can accommodate paddlers from 45 lbs up to a 58 inch chest. (no personal PFD’s please). We are an equal opportunity recreation service provider and will happily make adjustments to accommodate any paddler with physical limitations or special needs. It is up to the paddler to consult with a doctor to determine if rafting is an activity suitable for them.

Rates: All seats are $55. A group rate of $48 per person is available for groups of 14 or more and a single payment. Tuesday is locals day where all seats are $48.  Gratuities are encouraged for professional guides that go above and beyond.  Guides do tip out the office staff, drivers and photographers so please consider 10% to 20%.

Cancellations: We have a 24 hour cancelation policy.  If you are unsure of your final trip numbers please reserve for the most you think will attend.  You are able to call us anytime the day prior to your trip to adjust numbers without charge.  We do raft rain or shine, except for lightning in which case if radar shows an impending cell we will cancel the trip without charge.

Photos: All of the photos of your boat can be viewed in the office after your trip. If you would like to purchase your photos we will send you a link to all of your photos for $35.
