Once at the river your guide will unload the boats and get you fitted with a PFD. After a short paddle demonstration you will launch and begin your paddle upstream. Guides will show you how to duck the current and eddy hop while pointing out wildlife, old logging relics and evidence of the Mt Mazama eruption. As the paddling becomes more difficult you will experience the difference between old eroded river channel vs really young just being formed river.
The tour continues downstream where you can float, relax and paddle the banks to explore. Follow your guide into a dis-tributary where you will learn about the formation of this rare geo-morphological feature and paddle over an underwater lava cave. The tour concludes above Dillon Falls where you can see how the Newbery eruption changed the river to what it is today.
Who Can Go: We recommend paddlers be 10 years of age due to paddling upstream at the beginning of the trip. Younger children can go as a passenger in a tandem kayak with an adult. Paddlers should be in appropriate physical shape for sitting in a kayak or standing on a paddle board.
